I’m Bringing Sexy Back!

November 13, 2013  |  Food, Princess Paleo  |  Share

The title says it all. I’m finally doing something for me. Yes I’m so called “skinny” but if you asked me to run a mile. My heart would combust. I would never say that I let myself go after having kids but I would admit that I didn’t make time to actually be fit. What I mean by fit (my standards) is someone that could lift their own body weight if needed to climb over a fence or maybe get a few pull ups in. Or maybe if someone tried to harm me that I could sort of defend myself. I am a former athlete and it sickens me the way that I have “let myself go.” I’m trying really hard to tell myself that I’m not 16 anymore & that I need to re-establish those neuropath- ways of muscle memory. I’m just “a little” uncoordinated at times. I’m starting my second...

Ground Beef Jerky Recipe (Nightshade Free)

Ground Beef Jerky Recipe (Nightshade Free)

A few months ago a purchased an awesome jerky gun. I bought it at Cabela's when I was picking up my 1/2 cow in the parking lot. Fitting right. I bought it here because they had a high quality stainless steel model. I didn't want to get plastic because I have heard they can break. But, if you just want to try out a cheaper option totally go with a plastic one. I love my jerky gun. Plus I am able to use ground beef which is so much cheaper than buying a hunk of meat. I made two different recipes. Mainly because I wanted to tweak one and came up with a whole different recipe. I ran out of Coconut Aminos so I had to improvise. It worked out though. Although I have no idea what to call the recipes. Also, I didn't use any nightshades because I am in the...

Our Responsibility. Part One.

February 27, 2013  |  Life  |  Share

I am going to try my hand at writing more posts, that aren't just food recipes. I am sure the first few posts like this will be a little scrambled as I am not a writer and my thoughts are all over the place. I am not sure where to begin. I guess I could talk about my kids and how proud I was the other day at a Birthday party my oldest, Nolan 3.5 yrs. attended. I was proud of him because there was pizza and cake to be had, but he turned it down for apples and the Paleo cookies that we brought. Of course he wanted more than the two cookies we gave him, but he was really hungry because he didn't want to eat dinner before the party. Snacks have been a struggle in our house lately. At school he has been eating the snack provided, not...

Orange Ground Beef

Orange Ground Beef

I know a couple posts ago I mentioned how large the gap was between new posts, well this beats it. It felt like 6 months but was two months. And even more than that since my last recipe post. I will admit to getting lazy. I am constantly making new recipes I just never write down what I put in it nor do I take pictures. I hope this changes. This post wont have the best photos, I took them with my iPhone, but its a recipe and it was really good. Hope you enjoy. Orange Ground Beef Ingredients: 1/2 Cup Toasted Coconut Flakes (toast at 300• for about 15 minutes stirring frequently.) 2 lbs Ground Beef 1/2 Cup Cashews 3-5 Stalks of Celery Chopped (you could use bell pepper) 1 Onion Sliced Juice of 2 oranges 1 Cup Bone Broth 1.5 Cups Pineapple Chunks 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder 2 teaspoons Coconut Aminos 1.5 Tablespoons Arrowroot Powder 1/4 teaspoon Cardamom 1 teaspoon Tumeric 1 teaspoon Ginger...

Baked Cod with Mushrooms and Coconut Milk

Baked Cod with Mushrooms and Coconut Milk

It has been awhile since I have posted a recipe, I know. I have a few more that are close to ready, just need to take pictures blah blah blah. I know you don't care about all that. Also, I have been following an autoimmune protocol to try and figure out some skin issues. I have had eczema as long as I can remember. When I first went Paleo it got tons better, but has now reared its ugly head again. The protocol I have been following is from Diane Sanfillippo's new book Practical Paleo. Check out my review here. Or, don't waste your time and just buy it. Enough about me, lets get to the recipe. Baked Cod with Mushrooms and Coconut Milk Ingredients: 5-6 fillets of Cod 1.5 Cups of sliced mushrooms Few cloves of garlic diced 2 Tablespoons palm oil or coconut oil or butter Dill-fresh would be best, but dried will work. 1/2 cup...

Breastfeeding & Weight Loss

Breastfeeding & Weight Loss

My youngest is 10 months old now! I cannot believe that time has flown by so quickly! My blog has been very quiet and I’ve been thinking about this topic for the last three months now but just haven’t made the time to actually post my thoughts. Again, I’m not a Nutritionist, Doctor, etc. in any way, shape or form, but just a second time mother that’s completely Paleo this time around.  I love my Paleo treats, but never cheat with gluten or refined sugars. Lately, I’ve had tons of compliments or ass backward comments on my weight loss. I get people saying how great I look or asking how much I weigh because I guess…in their eyes… I’m too skinny. My energy level, drive, skin and hair have never looked so good …actually! That’s how I measure healthy. I’m not exercising right now…I wish I had the time and finances...

My Experience with Breastfeeding.

My Experience with Breastfeeding.

After some long, drawn out thought- yeah I know it’s been a while since my last blog post. I just have so much to say that I end up not saying anything at all…I know. It doesn’t make sense. Especially for those of you that have known me since high school. A significant part of being a mother is breastfeeding. I breastfed Nolan, our oldest son until he was 14 months. Yeah. Huge commitment.  I plan on doing the same for Beckett. Nolan was 9lbs 6oz when he was born. Yep BIG BOY! He latched on perfect and as a first time mother I thought…wow! This is perfect! Everything should just kick in as nature intended it to. Yeah…no. After three days of colostrum. Nolan was starving and crying for milk. I called the lactation consultant that our doula suggested. The consultant had me pump just to see what exactly was coming...

Your Kids and Paleo

Your Kids and Paleo

I have been wanting to write this post for awhile. I will probably spend more time on it then necessary, but I have so many thoughts on this subject. Your kids should be eating Paleo, too. A little background. Some of you might already know a little bit about our journey, but for all of our newer followers here you go. I (Kyle) started eating Paleo about 3 years ago.  We found out we were pregnant with Nolan and this kicked my butt into gear to eat and live a healthier life.  We had tried gluten and dairy free in the past, but we weren't dieting, we just wanted to feel better. I was thinking we should try cutting out dairy again so I was doing some research on dairy intolerance and came upon Mark's Daily Apple. From there the rest is really history. I ordered his book then read Robb's...

Princess Paleo

Princess Paleo

Up until now the only member of our family that has contributed to this site has been me. (Kyle) Until now. I am so happy that my wife has finally decided to share her experiences with all of you. She is going to start off talking about her pregnancies and we will see where it goes from there. Welcome Jamie, The Princess Paleo. For over a year now I have been contemplating on writing a blog of my own. Specifically, about my three pregnancies.  For those of you that know me personally-Yes I said three pregnancies and I only have two children. I have no idea if my pregnancies and children are actually different because of the change of my nutrition or just because no two pregnancies are alike. I’ll wonder this for the rest of my life and possibly feel utter gut wrenching guilt for the rest of my life. I...
