Ground Beef Jerky Recipe (Nightshade Free)

Ground Beef Jerky Recipe (Nightshade Free)

A few months ago a purchased an awesome jerky gun. I bought it at Cabela's when I was picking up my 1/2 cow in the parking lot. Fitting right. I bought it here because they had a high quality stainless steel model. I didn't want to get plastic because I have heard they can break. But, if you just want to try out a cheaper option totally go with a plastic one. I love my jerky gun. Plus I am able to use ground beef which is so much cheaper than buying a hunk of meat. I made two different recipes. Mainly because I wanted to tweak one and came up with a whole different recipe. I ran out of Coconut Aminos so I had to improvise. It worked out though. Although I have no idea what to call the recipes. Also, I didn't use any nightshades because I am in the...

Orange Ground Beef

I know a couple posts ago I mentioned how large the gap was between new posts, well this beats it. It felt like 6 months but was two months. And even more than that since my last recipe post. I will admit to getting lazy. I am constantly making new recipes I just never write down what I put in it nor do I take pictures. I hope this changes. This post wont have the best photos, I took them with my iPhone, but its a recipe and it was really good. Hope you enjoy. Orange Ground Beef Ingredients: 1/2 Cup Toasted Coconut Flakes (toast at 300• for about 15 minutes stirring frequently.) 2 lbs Ground Beef 1/2 Cup Cashews 3-5 Stalks of Celery Chopped (you could use bell pepper) 1 Onion Sliced Juice of 2 oranges 1 Cup Bone Broth 1.5 Cups Pineapple Chunks 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder 2 teaspoons Coconut Aminos 1.5 Tablespoons Arrowroot Powder 1/4 teaspoon Cardamom 1 teaspoon Tumeric 1 teaspoon Ginger...

Paleo Casserole

I have been pretty busy lately with stuff for the blog, even though you haven't seen any of it yet. I have come up with a few more Tshirt designs that will be uploaded to my shop soon. I have also filmed my first episode of Family Living Simple Cooking Show. I might have to come up with a different name, but it is filmed and I am editing it now. The  sound quality is pretty bad, but I am looking into better options. So look out for more cooking episodes to come. Also, I have been working on a children's book. Not going to divulge to much, but it is Paleo based and is a coloring book. I might have found an illustrator, but the illustrations will take awhile. So, be on the lookout for more to come from this blog soon. Now for the recipe. Paleo Casserole Ingredients: 2 pounds of ground meat 2...

Quick Ground Meat Curry

May 9, 2011  |  Food  |  Share

Yesterday we got back from a long weekend of going to my Sister's Graduation and helping her move. It was a 5 hour drive through eastern Washington. Needless to say when we got home we didn't have a lot of food around the house and weren't in the mood to go shopping or take the time to cook a meal. I decided to make a curry dish since we had 1pound of ground beef and 1pound of ground buffalo. We had burgers for lunch and dinner the night before so that wasn't happening again. We also had a sweet potato and a head of cauliflower so I roasted these and it turned out good enough to share with you. Quick Ground Meat Curry Ingredients: 1 Tablespoon Ghee (or coconut oil) 2 Pounds of Ground meat 1 Red Onion 1 Zucchini (I would add more if I had it) 1 Can Coconut Milk 2 Tablespoons Tomato paste 2 Tablespoons Curry Powder 1/4...

How strict do You Have to be with a Side of Cabbage and Meat Muffins

February 21, 2011  |  Food, Uncategorized  |  Share

I am always inspired to write a new blog post after listening to The Paleo Solution podcast. This morning is no different. Robb Wolf was asked a question about cheat meals. This is an interesting topic and I will try not to ramble to much, but I have a few thoughts and totally agree with Robb on this one. First off, I hate how its called a cheat meal. When I was following a more Primal Blueprint approach which is an 80% to 20% lifestyle plan I found myself cheating to much. I do agree that as long as you are following a Paleo type diet at 80% compliance, than you are doing great and probably doing a lot better than you were before. But I wanted to do better and I was allowing myself to slip to much. I wanted to be eating better. I know what I am supposed...

Quick Friday Night Dinner and How to Eat Out.

Quick Friday Night Dinner and How to Eat Out.

Almost every time I have plans to eat out or am at a party I always get asked the same question, "What are you going to eat"? It's really not that tricky. You might seem picky to others but I would rather seem picky to a couple people than eat like crap and feel the same later. Really simple. When I eat out it really isn't a problem at all. There is always something you can find. Sometimes I will just get a burger with no bun. Then instead of fries just get a side salad. Really simple. One change I have been noticing more and more is a Gluten Free menu. Sometimes you have to ask for it or if you scan that menu you are given it might say Gluten Free menu available. Or just do your best. You can scan for items you know are Paleo or just...
